Name: Malleus Draconia
Door: TDM

Canon: Twisted Wonderland
Canon Point: Start of Book 7 after Lilia's Announcement

Age: 178
Appearance: Here

History: Wiki
CR AU (Optional): N/A

Personality:
Positive Trait: Magnanimous
Being the future ruler of Briar Valley, Malleus has been raised to consider both his people and kingdom as a whole in anything he does. He has a clear understanding that his actions have real consequences for not just himself but his entire kingdom, and he's very cognisant of this.

The way Briar Valley's ruling body is set up, while Malleus will be the king, there is also a senate that appears to be equally in charge. As Malleus is not old enough to be king yet, the senate appears to dictate most of his life. Far from being bitter about this, Malleus seems to completely accept the senate's part in his life and dutifully complies with their demands of him. It's clear that Malleus takes his role and duties very seriously and does his best to act with consideration for his people.

He strives to embody a gracious but fair attitude toward others, always mindful to act 'like a noble should'. The power he has as a future ruler is not about controlling others and getting what he wants, but rather about considering others and caring for his people. Ruling, to him, is a duty and not a privilege.

Negative Trait: Lonely
A number of factors all combined to bring about Malleus' relationship with being alone, starting from just before he was born. When Malleus was still an unhatched egg, the country his family ruled was invaded. During the invasion, his mother sacrificed herself for her egg to get to safety, and Malleus' father has been missing since the invasion. As the sole heir, Malleus was strictly guarded and not allowed to leave the security of the castle. With no family aside from occasionally spending time with his grandmother, he was alone most of the time. There were plenty of guards and servants, but they could not provide companionship either, and many of them seemed to fear him. This fear stemmed from more than simply a respect for their heir apparent, Malleus had been magically 'blessed' when he was born with both a voice whose 'terrifying resonance will make anyone tremble and obey' and 'the power to repel everything' so that 'nothing can touch or harm' him. While these 'blessings' were clearly intended to make Malleus a formidable and strong ruler, it's easy to see how they would also make it very difficult for him to ever get close to anyone without accidentally hurting them.

In canon, it's clear that Malleus is upset by being left out, both showing eagerness and excitement when being invited to anything and getting extremely moody when he's left out. For example, even seeing a group photo of all the housewardens, of which he is as well, except him, makes him angry enough to accidentally crush the phone the picture is on. Unfortunately, his 'blessings' make many fellow students wary of him, and even when that's not an issue, his fae sense of time, which I'll talk more about later, tends to make getting close to him or even including him in things difficult.

These feelings of deep loneliness and ostracism are also shown to lead to abandonment and attachment issues. Malleus is weirdly attached to a Tamagotchi pet that he can continuously raise and is shown to go to great lengths to be very careful with the electronic as well as find someone to fix it when he accidentally gets it wet. He also reacts very badly when Lilia, the fae who his mother entrusted with him when he was still an egg and who visited him from time to time when he was growing up, announces that he is effectively retiring and has decided to travel to a faraway land for his retirement.

Negative Trait: Petty
Throughout the game, Malleus is shown to be prone to petty acts of revenge. They're often somewhat playful, but still clearly very petty. In one instance, a classmate first approaches him in a friendly way, but when it becomes clear that the classmate's true motives aren't friendship but getting sweet Magicam (in universe Instagram) photos of Malleus, he reacts by ensuring that he's always moving so fast in any of the photos that he's a blur. In another instance, a classmate is not quite threatening but perhaps being a little too aggressive in Malleus' opinion with Lilia, so Malleus uses his fae strength to throw something from across the field that purposefully misses the classmate's nose by just a hair and then smirks smugly about it. There are more examples, but it seems that Malleus' fae nature combined with being a temperamental dragon at heart, results in him stooping to petty revenge and finding it quite amusing.

Negative Trait: Alien
While maybe not a negative trait, per se, it is a negative trait and a huge hurdle when Malleus is trying to relate to humans. Ultimately, Malleus is not human; he's a dragon fae, and as such, he has different life experiences and perspectives than humans. He is very much an 'other'. This difference manifests in a number of ways.

For one, Malleus is still considered quite young at 178 years old. He experiences time very differently from mortals and has struggled to adjust. For him, a year feels like the blink of an eye, and he often wonders how the students are meant to really learn anything in 'only four years'. His warped view of time also means he's often late or forgets events altogether, surprised when they occur so soon after he's received an invitation. On the other hand, he also doesn't mind waiting around for people. In one instance, he got the time for a meeting wrong and casually waited a few hours for everyone to show up.

Malleus also struggles with being relatable to others. If other characters aren't outright unnerved by Malleus, they still struggle to really understand him. It's noted a handful of times that he's a very difficult person to read, with many people expressing that they never have any idea what he might be thinking. In addition, it's also often mentioned how Malleus does have a sense of humor and a playful streak, but that it's often misunderstood. His jokes seem to fall completely flat or get missed altogether.

Lastly, his fae strength and innate magical abilities do make him unintentionally dangerous to mortals. He's cognisant of these differences and tries to be careful, but it is something he has to be constantly mindful of. There are moments when he'll express a desire to be competitive, but then reconsiders and decides that any kind of competition, even friendly competition, would likely be a bad idea, as it could be dangerous for others.

This 'otherness' clearly stifles and restricts Malleus from being completely relaxed and open, and also presents a level of frustration when he and others don't have the same understanding of things, such as his perspective of time.

Powers and Abilities:
Physical
- As a fae, he is stronger, faster, and has greater stamina than humans
- Malleus has assumed a human form, his true form is a dragon. He can choose to transform various parts of his body at will
- While he tends not to do this if he can help it, he can breathe fire. This sometimes happens by accident when he sneezes.

Magic (Intentional)
- Object manipulation
- Healing
- Elemental magic: water, ice, fire, electricity, earth, cosmic/darkness
- Teleportation: objects, himself, and others
- Flight

Magic (Unintentional)
- Malleus causes localized weather changes when he experiences negative emotions. Depending on how negative, he tends to cause rain and thunderstorms when upset or angry, and cold, snowy weather when he's feeling sad and lonely. [I'd love for him to keep this in Duplicity, but it will be even more localized, like directly above the building he's in and nowhere else.]
- Malleus has another 'blessing' that inadvertently makes his magic lash out at anyone who hurts him. [As this is counterproductive for what Duplicity wants of them, the city officials have nullified this ability.]
